Court

So, I had to go to court on Friday for my journalism class to do research for a court story. It was a very interesting experience. I got there at 11:30, but was told to come back at 1 p.m. When I came back, I had to wait about 45 minutes for everything to get started. I went with two friends from my class and we decided to talk to a woman who was to be tried. She basically confessed her guilt to her crime (credit card fraud) even though she was obviously pleading not guilty. I can't decide whether to write my article from that angle.. Woman confesses crime to journalist or just go the usual route.  Luckily for her, the police officer never showed, and she was let go. She literally ran out of court with a huge smile on her face.

Unbeknownst to her, after the court closed for the day, we talked to the Assistant State's Attorney, who told us she plans to recharge the case. I wonder what will happen..

Some other exciting/sad things we saw was a prisoner, brought in, orange jumpsuit and all, handcuffed. Kinda nerve-wracking, but exciting. Also, there was a woman there facing up to 10 years in prison, who failed to hire a lawyer or contact a public defender. Good luck, lady.

What I must say about my major, is that I am getting to experience all different types of things and  getting to meet all kinds of people. I am obtaining great life experience, being forced to talk to all sorts of intimidating people and having to travel to all these places. I like it.

Oh and way to go TERPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FML

A great website for all, F My Life.

It's my newest obessesion.

Some of my recent favorites:

Today, I looked at the facebook of the girl I really liked, and I saw she wrote on her friend's wall "Last night was the biggest mistake of my life." We hooked up last night. FML

Today, I greeted a mom and a little girl at the place where I work. The little girl looks at me, looks back at her mom, and says, "Mommy, I hate people."

Today, I got a text message. It said, "I'm so drunk. What you up to, girl?" It was my dad. FML

Today, I found out my teacher write descriptions next to people's names on the register to remind him who people were. By mistake the description appeared on the computer projector. Next to my name is said "Tubby". FML

He's Just Not That Into You

So I saw He's Just Not That Into You this weekend, along with many of you, I'm sure. I wasn't super impressed. I thought it sent out many mixed messages with the whole rule/exception thing. The whole movie preached about how you can't expect to be the exception, but when it came down to, it many of the characters were. It was entertaining enough and fun to watch, but it didn't provide any great insight. The book is definitely better and more informative. Rating 3/5

I went into D.C. on Friday and Saturday this weekend. I just had to get out of the CP bubble. On Friday, I got to see Stef, which was long overdue and great. I had sushi both nights at the same place--Wok and Roll. It's actually really good. Toasted sesame seeds--enough said. There is nothing like getting out and being in a city. I missed it.

Study Abroad Fair this Tuesday at Stamp. I'm so confused about where to go! Spain, France, Italy, England ?!?

“We all go through the same things — it's all just a different kind of the same thing.” -Mrs. Hale (Trifles)

Ahh, what a long few days.

I have been very busy writing articles for a variety of publications and I already have a lot of work for all my classes.

My roommate and I have been going to the gym a lot. We went to the weight room during the Super Bowl because we figured it would be empty and not so intimidating. We were right. We may never find it that empty again, but we are planning on going on Sunday nights. And we went to Power Yoga today, which we also enjoyed.

So, Michael Phelps got caught with a bong. I think he is getting off super easy, but c'mon, he is just a 23-year-old boy. And his life literally consists of  only sleeping, eating, and swimming. My professor noted that this is 2nd strike. (His first was for a DUI) Next time, he will inevitably get in more trouble, but hopefully there won't be a next time.

I can't believe that it was almost 60 degrees today and tomorrow there is a major snowstorm forecasted. How can that be?! I just want to be on the beach...who's with me?
